    New Alan Parsons PULSE mix?

“Alan is delighted to announce the new stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos mixes of the recently completed Pink Floyd: Live at Earls Court in London 1994 that played the entirety of The Dark Side Of The Moon.

David Gilmour personally commissioned Alan (who engineered the original 1973 album) and approved the final mixes.

“It was a fantastic experience to go back to the songs I knew so well from the original album. Remixing this amazing live performance was a real treat.” ~Alan”

    From Alan Parsons’ Facebook today.

I thought that Guthrie refuses new mixes (as he is one of the producer).
Does it concern the CD album or the bluray ?

Was about to post about this here. Very interesting, I have to say. I'm not really a fan of that era of live performances, but a 5.1 may get me to re-listen.

I had an idea around the time of the DSOTM that a live anthology box set would have been good, to show off the piece’s evolution. I envisaged this to include Brighton ‘72, Wembley ‘74 and Earl’s Court ‘94 … so 2 out of 3 isn’t bad … still waiting on the other one!!

Alan's post shows a screen grab of the credits on the video so it's safe to assume that this is a video release and only DSOTM.

Exactly... I think it's just the dark side of the moon... as usual in Gilmour... bits here and bits there

Strange to imagine a bluray with only the DSOTM part. I can't imagine 2 PULSE bluray in a shop with one containing only one part ...

A CD+BR audio seems more "logical" no ?

              Let see...

Eagerly waiting to see how much more content is deleted from the original performance.

I am looking forward to it, but it’s a strange move tbh…

Totally agree, looking forward to it.....just when you thought they couldn't possibly release another mix of TDSOTM.

How many versions of PULSE are we at now, even if this is only a partial release?

Personally, I have always had a silent longing for an official Hannover 1994 album. I think the One of These Days CD is from there.

As well as the cassette which includes the soundscape at the end, though my Russian copy does not.

You know, I am the type that gets a little irritated at what I would usually consider lobbing insults at the band, especially when everyone here has obviously gotten so much out of the records they made.

But the crass commercialism and utter greed displayed at every turn has worn me down.

we don’t need a 13th different release of a tour where the main songwriter isn’t even there, the members of the “backing” band out weigh the actual members by more than 2 to 1, etc…

then to release only part of the show so you can milk more copies if they want they whole thing is such blatant, gross money chasing bullshit that it depresses me. Sure, Roger can be very hard to like, but at least he doesn’t treat the fans like they’re complete idiots like Dave Gilmour does. I suppose the pre-order for his new album of elevator music isn’t going as well as hoped.

One day I swear I’m gonna read “6 unreleased songs from the Dark Side of thr Moon sessions found…George Martin raised from the dead, has been hired to destroy all master tapes and copies. David Gilmour to gather 3 bus loads of also-ran British rock bands to record live album of Roger Waters’ greatest hits…”

I fell in love with a Pink Floyd that did things nobody else did. Experimental and weird and distinctly kinda non-commercial. I’ve defended them countless times against charges of this type and I won’t ever do it again. Or buy a single thing that is not a new live or unreleased novel piece of music.

otherwise, I’m gonna support bands that need the help and deserve my money. Obviously I’m sure they don’t care about just one person, but they obviously just don’t care about their fans, period

Can we get Steven Wilson to work his magic on the early albums, next?

Does Alan Parsons have much of a reputation for remixing the work of others?
