Please can someone tell me a good app for converting 24bit audio to 16bit audio for CD burning?
    Thank you,

That worked great Skinny thanks, I converted the RW 2023-05-09 2.59gb down to 690mb and it plays fine.
My only concern is I have 21 days trial, does it stop working after the trial?
If so, are there any free equivalent apps please?

      Thank you,
      D

It so happens I had to do something similar today.
        I used Voxengo's r8brain, from: https://www.voxengo.com/product/r8brain/
It's small, it's free, and easy to use. You can convert one file at a time, but it also has a "batch" option to load and convert several files at a time. It has worked great for me the couple times I've needed it.

You can also use xmediarecode! It’s free and does it all!

I'm a Linux junkie so I always use FFMPEG.

Me too, but I usually use the SoundKonverter front end.
Off surfing with Linda, of course...

Yeah, that's great! For anyone interested, it also works on Windows. I haven't tested any frontends, but with the help of google, it's easy to find the command line arguments needed to do all operations I have needed so far.

I use a standalone version of Xrecode III. It converts anything to anything, even obscure/obsolete formats like TAK and SHN. Drop DVDs in and it sees the audio streams. Videos the same. Every format has its own settings, plus overall settings. Split into file per channel, make multichannel folddowns. Make ringtones. It does everything, and has a great deal of user control over every setting possible. I recommend this to everyone who does a lot of work with various formats of audio or video

I would recommend and download Reaper (works on Mac and Windows) - it is free.
                          https://www.reaper.fm/download.php?from_reaper=1

I use the conversion batch :

                          with the following settings :

Sample Rate : 44100 - channels (source) - Dither ON
Resample mode : Sinc Interpolation : 768pt (very slow)
                          preserve if possible : Metadata

                          output format FLAC
                          16 BIT (encoding depth)
                          5 - Defaut (compression)
                          dither is click (dither on)

no normalize or other options checked

choose a different directory (create a specific folder) so that you will get the converted file into this specific folder.

I think that it is an excellent audio converter (it's far more than that) to "downscale" an high-res audio for CD format.

I'm the last guy to offer tech advice (i'm a lifelong dummy), but several of my free CD-burning programs auto convert hi-res to whatever it takes to burn a CDR.

                            I use CDBurnerXP and BURRRN.

Thought I'd post because I'm pretty sure I had this question and got these suggestions at the old Yeeshkul!
