Performance credits are not the same as composition credits. And are only documentary, not legally binding. That's why Jeff Porcaro is not credited as (co-)author of Mother, but his hired playing skill is.

The actual quote would have come from some interview Gilmour gave many years later - not 60 years ago, if we want to be pedantic about it (in a nice way)

The point is that it does seem like a very strange thing to say - and also perhaps reveals a little something about his character.

        On a Pink Floyd forum…

Many years later, one's memory tends to be in question. I'd believe this before believing that David would purposely lie about something like this.

First you question the validity of a statement assuming it was from around the time he was active in that band, then you question the validity of the statement assuming it was made later….

My reply was based on Diego's post, not an assumption. And yes, I will question it until I see the actual quote in context with the interview.

This is the date with the relevant info - Victoria Ballroom / 1964

“I read an interview with David talking about his days in Cambridge. He talked about forming a band called Jokers Wild. I want everyone to know that’s not right- he was the last one in. (Wikipedia says that Jokers Wild were formed by David Gilmour.) “I did buy his solo LP. He’s a good instrumentalist and musician but I didn’t really like the album." In legal matters there are no gifts or confusion... if there are traces they are clarified and applied. I'm not saying that Karen is good or bad, it's just that if performance credits are now legally applied...
Are you saying Carin is a Karen? 😂🤦‍♂️

I'm not saying that Karen is good or bad, it's just that if performance credits are now legally applied... not just composition credits, it's because that's how it should be. Several of Jon's allegations were because his synthesizer could be heard on the recordings or were performed by him... at least in Division Bell it is now clarified.
Carin has never been credited on Sign of Life, and he did not play on it.
He is perfectly credited for Learning to Fly, and perfectly listed on all the songs he played on.
                So, nothing wrong...

I think that JC is refering to writing credits as to what he is/was supposed to be credited...
