I'm glad that history has ended with the recognition of the places where they played... it would have been a bad taste in my mouth to remember my favorite group as a chaser of elderly fans who in their crazy youth documented their career... now There will be no need to emigrate to Korea!

Watch Carin's Facebook feed and you will probably rethink that. He disputes a lot of the official credits, among other things affirming that Lost for Words was based on his demo, and that he played on tracks that he wasn't credited for playing on.
Considering that Carin played with Gilmour from 1985 (the Live Aid appearance with Brian Ferry) up until 2016, from he was barely 20 years old until he was 52, and had been loyal for that time, there has to be some reason why he fell out with Gilmour, and has become such a firm loyalist for Roger (who he has played with for 14 years less and strictly speaking owes less to in terms of publicity and paychecks) and critic of Gilmour. Or do you believe that Carin is just lying about all this, and for no reason at all?

His Facebook feed has become a joke. It's obvious that Carin lies and brags quite a lot (like the demo for Yet Another Movie, IIRC). I know that he lied about something else only to back peddle and edit his post after getting caught.
Additionally, if he didn't write lyrics or the main melody he's not entitled to any credit. I would say that it feeds a bruised ego rather than no reason at all. I call bullshit on Gilmour cheating him out of any credit.

It wouldn't be the first time Gilmour has taken credit for something that wasn't true.
According to one of the founding members of Jokers Wild, Gilmour stated in an interview that he was either the founding member (or one of the founding members) Whereas the reality is that the band was already up and running long before he joined them - and he was the last to join the group. Given how obscure the Jokers were/are - it's a strange comment to come out with on David's part. I mean, does it really matter?
I do wonder if there's a tinge of anger or resentment on David's part with Jokers/Floyd - because he was the last to join in both bands. He has never actually founded a successful group himself.Last edited by DiegoFermoli; 06-22-2024, 09:57 AM.

I don't understand... It seems to me that there is a misunderstanding between credits and musicians who played on a song.
Jon Carin has always been listed as a musician on every album or concert he played for. The list from music plateform are not always correct and it's not David's fault.
If you look at the physical media, Carin was never erased from credits on Learning to Fly, and from the list of musicians on the others he played on.
I still think that Jon has said a lot of bs recently... Unfortunately...

In legal matters there are no gifts or confusion... if there are traces they are clarified and applied. I'm not saying that Karen is good or bad, it's just that if performance credits are now legally applied... not just composition credits, it's because that's how it should be. Several of Jon's allegations were because his synthesizer could be heard on the recordings or were performed by him... at least in Division Bell it is now clarified.
