I bet he must have his word. Why not offering a little box with CD and BR like Rattle that lock, Endless river ? I will buy the CD and if I really like the music, will buy the BR. This box... ? At this price...? Never...

It’s basically the same box as TER with an extra CD, the book looks to be barely wider than a disc. That box went for $30 and RTL went for around $40, if I’m remembering correctly.

Exactly. Why is the price 5X more expensive ?

crossposting this in case anyone is looking for MSG Saturday and Sunday tickets ..Some good MSG tickets (Sections 107&117 row 15 and 16) for the Saturday and Sunday shows were released today at $440ea. Saturday has been a tough ticket to get at below $893, so I grabbed a pair.

I still have a great seat for sale in 107 for the Wednesday MSG show. Selling at cost or best offer.

I don’t understand these ticket prices. Totally crazy. I just saw The Rolling Stones and had “okay” seats for around $215 each with fees. Felt worth it.

Sorry but in my humble opinion David’s solo material is not worth anything close to the $400 or $800 per seat that I’ve seen online. My assumption is he’s going to play most of his new album. It’s not clicking with me, just like his last two albums.

I'm not sure ANY show is worth $400-800+ tbh and I'm certainly not going to defend these prices. But for context, in your example the Stones are doing a stadium tour and I haven't seen a floor ticket anywhere near the stage for under $1000. An upper deck ticket at MSG would be closer than 50% of the seats at a stadium show and David was selling them in the $200 range. So he seems in line fwiw.

I'm thinking about going to see Neil Young In Toronto in a couple of week, the top seats were set at $1,025 CAD. Taking my daughter to see Taylor Swift later in the year and good seats start at $2k cad. It's absolute madness, I don't know how the average punter can afford this nonsense. Maybe everyone is trying to cash in before VR makes it possible to sit front row from your own home. All I know is that I've gone from going to 20-30 shows a year to now just the handful I really want or feel I need to see.

I read that the Black Keys and Jennifer Lopez both canceled tours that were going to be held in big venues. Apparently lots of unsold tickets at sky high prices. I’m glad…sends a message that prices are too high. Not that I have any interest in those two but you know what mean.

I think with the high prices, concert goers are just being more selective. I have no current plans to get tix for this tour, between the new material which I have not enjoyed and the prices. May try to grab something closer to the show when we can see what the setlist looks like, but I am willing to just miss the tour, too.

PS- I am happy to see anything new coming out from DG, even if its not to my taste.

Agreed. I usually avoid concert spoilers but I may have to look at them this time to see if it’s worth it.

David’s solo work has some really great production - the recordings sound beautiful - but the songwriting and lyrics put me to sleep. Wish he spent more time on that. Let’s see what the rest of the album offers us.

I think it's criminal, personally, and my estimation of both Mr. Waters and Gilmour has plummeted to zero. They're trying to squeeze as much as they possibly can out of their fans, nothing more. Some might balk at the £250 price tag for a 2LP and a thick book or 1K$ concert tickets - but let's not forget that Waters was flogging a 2LP of his live Wall show for around £400-500 a few years ago.

On the flip-side - and in their defence - nobody is forcing anyone to pay these prices so, being a capitalist society, we can't really grumble. This is par for the course and they really can do what they want. Who's to say we wouldn't milk the cow for all she's worth if the tables were turned?

What is interesting is that these ageing artists and bands (Stones, Who, Floyd, Dylan, Young, etc) won't be around much longer and there is nobody to fill these gaps. In order for music venues to make a living (and stay open) they need a roster of 'stars' to fill these places. Sure, some of these current mega-stars will pack em' in. But there really won't be enough of these legacy acts to keep them viable. Fame is so much shorter now. All these bigger artists from yesteryear made their names when we all only had a handful of channels to watch on TV - so they soaked up a huge fan-base.

This is essentially one last big cash-grab as the industry continues to slowly implode and profits decline at a startling rate.

I'm really itching to see where this goes in the next 5 - 10 years. I'm pretty sure the landscape will get very different, very quickly.

$250. I will pass. I will wait to hear the reviews. I miss the old days when an album would drop for 10 or 12 bucks and concert for the same price, No wonder I havent been to a concert since the 90s

Since there’s been a lot of discussion about ticket proxies and Taylor Swift has been brought up on several occasions I wanted to post a paragraph from Swiss national media about her upcoming concert and ticket prices:

On the 9th and 10th July, Taylor Swift, currently the most successful musician in the world, will perform at Zurich's Letzigrund Stadium. The approximately 90,000 tickets for the two concerts were all gone just a few minutes after the start of sales. Fans, also called "Swifties", are even said to arrive from the USA because they got tickets cheaper in Zurich.
                            from: https://www.srf.ch/news/schweiz/run-...buchungszahlen

For those of you who don’t know: Switzerland is one of the most expensive countries in the world Still chewier than the US when it comes to concerts.

Per the blurb pushing the Deluxe set: "We invited Charlie to the house, so he came and listened to some demos, and said things like "Well, why does there have to be a guitar solo there?" and "Do they all fade out? Can't some of them just end?" He has a wonderful lack of knowledge or respect for this past of mine.".... 😬 No confidence in the album now.. Yes, Dave can certainly do something "different" or what ever he wants but still.... By the way the tour has essentially sold out maybe people don't care what he does other than show up in the black t-shirt.

Over/under line on the number of Pink Floyd songs he plays on the tour? 2.5 ?
