Very nice to see this! I have the og vinyl which, due to a misprint has Side 1 on both sides of the vinyl so getting a remaster will be worth the wait. Dave’s debut is also great as well so that should be nice to see.

Seems crazy that albums that went out of print before streaming was a thing are unavailable digitally. How hard can it be to sell digital copies of Wet Dream, Broken China, etc? iTunes has been around since the beginning of iPods (longggg time ago, way before Spotify and others).

Dave Harris recently did not rule out a remix of Identity for 2024. Is it the hand of Steven Wilson? it would be excellent! and by 2026 maybe broken china

I wonder if that has something to do with the deals with the labels, and the provisions in the contracts for distribution through different mediums or the way the publishing rights were locked to certain formats. If the existing clauses back then didn't specify (or allowed) for distribution on on-line stores and/or digital streaming services (something that didn't exist in the late 1970s), then we had to wait until everything was re-negotiated in detail under new distribution contracts.

Fantastic news! I truly hope this will also happen with Broken China. SW does such an amazing job (alongside his own incredible SW / PT catalog, of course). Also hoping SW gives the same treatment to all of the remaining pre-2000 Porcupine Tree releases at some point too. And ... imagine the unfinished 2016 Meddle 5.1 (and OBC?) handed to Steven Wilson as well. Food for thought...

wasn't "Meddle" sort of hidden on the Blu-Ray of the Early Years (the 5.1 mix) ? it was finished, but apparently it was perhaps planned to be removed ?
Then Obscured By Clouds were probably done for 5.1 but not included; there are some menus ambient using When You're In for instance on the blu-ray.

Both mixes were completed by Andy Jackson.

I compared the CD rip posted on YT with the new mix of "Cat Cruise" on Apple Music. The new mix is 34 seconds longer than the original mix. The added length comes from an extension of the guitar solo before the final four cymbal crashes. The piano during the guitar solo section is also mixed a bit louder on the new version, giving a better sense of interplay between guitar and piano. I'm very pleased with this new mix. Looking forward to hearing more. Hoping this gets released as a hi-res download too.

It's intreresting to note that the Blu Ray contains 5.1 and atmos versions for a very reasonable price. Isnt it a pity that Floyd couldnt have done something similar for DSOTM.

Yes. The "hidden" Meddle had an error where the bass solo on OOTD was way too loud, but that was easily correctable. Why they never did so and properly release it I still don't understand.
