Knowing how Fripp and company are, they probably were recorded by the band, but never released, likely because the quality is shit. The only reason Earthbound ever got released despite not fitting anyone's definition of a "quality recording" was because EG Records demanded they released something in 72.

If you've never listened to Earthbound, DGM themselves describe the recording lineage as "captured live on an Ampex stereo cassette fed from a Kelsey Morris custom built mixer ... in the rain from the back of a Volkswagen truck.""

The first is The League of Gentlemen at the London School of Economics, November 29th 1980 (their last ever show).
The second is King Crimson at West Runton Pavillion, Cromer, March 12th 1982. I was fortunate to have a reasonably long conversation with Robert Fripp at the bar after the show.
I doubt that either show was recorded, but you never know. Maybe the LSE students made themselves a copy from the desk?
I have a pretty thorough KC collection, but I've never seen 1982-03-12. I have the surrounding shows on 03-10 and 03-15.
Off surfing with Linda, of course...

Speaking of KC I recently read Bill Bruford’s autobiography and I highly suggest it.

The 10th is out on DGM, there wasn't a show on the 15th. Do you mean the 14th (Poole Arts Centre)? I was at that one too.

Earthbound probably was the best performance of the Boz-led jam band era of Krimson. I just wish it didn't sound like it was recorded in the back of a pickup truck during a storm, but it always will because that's what it is.

My Holy Grail bootleg would have to be Rogers Waters 11/03/1987 at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, ME. I know an audience recording of it exists. Whether it will ever see the light of day or not is another matter...

The taper himself has confirmed its existence. Last I knew the recording resided in a storage locker somewhere in southern Maine. This was probably about five years ago and considering the age of the tape, it may well be unlistenable at this point. The taper told me he was unimpressed with his own efforts being that it was his first attempt at recording a show, but I'd like the opportunity to make my own judgement since seeing the KAOS tour in such a small venue was a religious experience. The quad was ungodly.

my holy grail, or one of them, has to be the 14.09.85 JJ cale recording somewhere in SOCAL, where Mark Knopfler joined after having played a dire straits show somewhere near. i know it happened as pics exists, made by JJ's manager Mike Kappus, and as i absolutely love both gentlemen, it would be ...aaarrgghhh...
i got most if not all recordings of all the shows i been to in my life, so cannot complain. (also made a lot myself)
but this IS an interesting topic...

My holy grail bootleg would be Peter Gabriel 30.05.2003 in Poznań. First polish PG concert. I was there. I know a tape exists but I couldn't find a place to download.

Mine would probably be The Grateful Dead's 1970-03-17 Kleinhans Music Hall, Buffalo, New York.
Article here for those further interested: https://nysmusic.com/2023/03/16/the-...almost-forgot/
But this was a one-off event with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, providing a full orchestral backing for the Dead's tunes, along with the band jamming around the orchestra playing tracks like "Battle Hymn Of The Republic"
I've seen fans putting out bounties for a recording. But the idea of a Dark Star that sounds like Atom Heart Mother intrigues me greatly.

I have it listed as "Old Grey Whistle Test". It's 3 songs.

Another for which I'm looking desperately (and have been since the night of the show) would be Leonard Cohen @ MSG, NYC 2009-10-23. Several phone vids of a few various tracks exist, and I can do without a video of the entire evening since Live In London from this tour was released on DVD, but I'd be absolutely ecstatic if EYE found even an audience recording of that night. There was a rumor that banalnyc(?) over at DIME had taped it, but EYE believe he passed on, and the recording, if it exists, never made its way into the world.

One of the most moving performances I've ever seen. It was like Leonard had twenty-thousand of his best friends in his living room.

And ultimately, who gives a fuck anyway?

I have checked my holdings for all these requests and alas have not found any of them.

I am seeking a grail show of my own: Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin & Paco De Lucia at Toad's Place, New Haven, CT 10/2/83. I have never seen it listed nor heard a rumor, but I was there for part of the show until a medical complication pulled me out. As an aside, I would be interest in any recordings by this trio from 1980 to 1983.

                            Good luck to all seekers!

Apart from the "Friday Night in San Francisco" album, I guess?
