Gilmour Knopfler in Studio Feb 2023

This looks interesting, although could do with a translation

As I understand it, Gilmour played on a Knopfler song for a charity project, Teenage Cancer Trust.

Wow, what a surprise. The photo Polly Samson shared today leaves no doubt! David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler together in the studio. The Pink Floyd guitarist still has his instrument attached to Jimi Hendrix'sguitar strap. That can only mean one thing, new music is recorded! Another photo reveals the location of the studio. Gilmour is a guest at British Grove Studios, which belongs to Knopfler. David Gilmour recorded Cancer Trust for teenagers

GUY FLETCHER: Spent a lovely day yesterday recording David Gilmour at British Grove for the VERY soon announced TCT project.

Yes, I recorded David yesterday for the TCT project. It was great to see him and Polly. (And their dogs!)

It is not so well known that Gilmour and Knopfler have been friends for a long time. Gilmour was seen when Knopfler played Royal Albert Hall in 2008 and Polly invited him to the book premiere of The Kindness. In 2007, Rick Wright re-recorded missing piano music, The Missing Piano, after the second guitar solo of Shine on you crazy Diamond, in Knopfler's British Grove Studio.

Would love to see them do a bluesy-style album together. Now THAT would be something!

Here's a video on You Tube naming David's favorite LP's. I figured it was just the usual writer's embellishment... One of them was the debut by Dire Straits. Apparently it was accurate!
