Your avatar is right horrowshow, brother. It lights up me glazzies, and gives me a nice warm feeling in me guttiwuts. Don't forget to vote in the poll, brother.

Great Day for Freedom is the point where I start skipping around or outright turn off Division Bell. Perfect Sense is the point where Amused to Death as a piece begins to shine.

The difference between these songs is that one is actually good, even though it’s technically two songs.

Well it only makes Perfect sense.

Can't you see? It all makes Perfect Sense. Expressed in dollars and cents. Pounds, shillings, and pence. Can't you see? It all makes Perfect Sense.

Perfect Sense is great musically. Unfortunately the lyrics get more cringe with every passing year. I can't listen to it anymore.

A Great Day for Freedom is a beautiful tune, very much like On the Turning Away. But there has always been something off about it, having a piano song on a Floyd album that's so clearly not Rick's piano.

A reluctant vote for Great Day for Freedom. The old me never would've believed it.

I have to agree with the "cringe" comment above on the lyrics to "Perfect Sense," though it still gets my vote in this case. "A Great Day For Freedom" just never really did much for me as a whole (though the solo and the choir vocals underneath make it at least passable); for me, it's one of the least essential songs in their catalog.

While I do like the song a lot, Perfect Sense definitely isn't Roger's best lyrics on the album, although granted that's still not saying a whole lot because I still think that it's his best solo work. I think his best moments as lyricist on Amused to Death are found in What God Wants, Part 3 (also one of his best vocal performances and definitely one of the guitar highlights), Three Wishes, and the title track.
