“David came over to the studio and I played him two tracks that could be worked on. He took them away as 24-track multi-tracks, and months later he invited me over to his studio Astoria and played me the track that people now know, as 'One Slip' on the A Momentary Lapse of Reason album. I was surprised, as I had thought he was working on the other track, but delighted to have a track on a Pink Floyd album."

it would be interesting to recognize what track was refused by David Gilmour

and whether it is in the new box set ?

my opinion - One Slip - really the best thing of the whole post-waters period

      also

I think AMLOR looks much better with the track list as used on tour - even a little bit conceptual

      Signs Of Life
      Learning To Fly
Yet Another Movie + Round And Around
      A New Machine (Part One)
      Terminal Frost
      A New Machine (Part Two)
      Sorrow
      The Dogs Of War
      One Slip
      On The Turning Away

the original track list - it's more of a set of disparate tracks and for some reason separated suite compositions - what's the point in the two-part structure of A New Machine ? - if this album isn't conceptual it's just nonsense - but in the live track list the conceptual appears

I don't understand why Mister didn't change the track list when remixing the album

try listening to the album in the "correct" order - I recommend it - you'll be surprised how it will sparkle with new colors

I just finished listening to the 2019 remix with your suggested track order. I quite agree this is better. The album flows much better both musically and emotionally. The original running order is disjointed by comparison. Thank you!

I can't say I'm a fan of One Slip and this demo did nothing to persuade me there's any unpolished gem lurking underneath. I guess it's interesting for its historical insight into the kind of thing they played for Bob Ezrin when he famously blurted out, "This doesn't sound a f'ing thing like Pink Floyd!"

Just a guess but maybe they were still thinking of vinyl and cassettes where you have to flip it over halfway. Having side 1 end with New Machine Pt 2 would feel kind of weak.

The 2019 version is a real mixed bag, but love how Rick’s organ can be heard going into in the One Slip chorus.
