    Joker's Wild unreleased song acetate

    https://diskunion-shinjukurockrecord.../24232237.html

A 7’ acetate featuring two previously unreleased Joker's Wild tracks will be offered in Japanese record shop on 25 May.
This is quite different from the five-track 10’ vinyl version in 1965.
The acetate was inherited by the son of a member of Joker's Wild, and it appears that part of the archive has been released and brought to the surface.

Two sample tracks from the acetate are available on YouTube.

The first is probably a cover of 'Say Those Magic Words' by The Birds (not the US band, but the one Ron Wood was in).

Just to confirm I'm reading this correctly... a record store in Japan will sell an unofficial release containing these tracks? Or are they selling the acetate itself?

There are also two Jokers Wild songs available on Spotify (and probably other streaming services too)
        You Don't Know Like I Know (2:30)
That's How Strong My Love Is (3:18)

So as far as I know that makes it 9 recorded songs that we know of

From the well known single-sided album:
1: Why Do Fools Fall in Love (1:53)
        2. Walk Like a Man (2:13)
        3. Don't Ask Me (2:57)
        4. Big Girls Don't Cry (2:18)
        5. Beautiful Delilah (1:59)

        From streaming services:
        6. You Don't Know Like I Know (2:30)
        7. That's How Strong My Love Is (3:18)

        From the newly discovered acetate:
        8. Unknown title (???)
        9. Unknown title (???)

That would make for a short and sweet (pun intended) album of early Gilmour

I know it's unconnected but this reminds me, are there any other Rick Wright compositions recordings pre-Floyd, apart from the Adam Mike and Tim "You're The Reason Why"?

This doesn't sound to me like Jokers Wild at all. Could be any other UK band from 1966.

And yes, first track is a cover of UK Birds "Say Those Magic Words".

Over the weekend I discovered, first hand, just how easy it is to cut an EMI acetate using original 1960s EMI labels. There are plenty of blank acetates still around. Studios used to buy both in bulk. Obvious advice for anyone considering a purchase is to pay very close attention to the provenance.
