    Nick Mason - Chimera

I remember a week or two ago, I was reading a post having to do with Nick Mason's solo work. What can I say other than I knew at the time there was one that had not been discussed, but I couldn't remember what it was called. I have just stumbled across my copy.

This is a link to the cover art ONLY -

Thanks for bringing this to light. I'd not previously heard of Chimera.

There is a very good description on Discogs of who Chimera was, a late-Sixties female folk duo from the Swinging London scene, and who worked on their sole recording project, which was recorded between 1967 and 1970 but did not see its first release until 2002 because the label they had signed with failed financially.

Notable to Pink Floyd fans, Nick, Rick Wright and Ron Geesin were all associated with the duo. Nick Mason was their manager. Ron Geesin cut some demos for the pair. On their album project, Nick played drums on a song called "The Grail"; Rick Wright played keyboards on a song called "Lady With Bullets In Her Hair". And Nick produced six of their tracks.

    Here's a YouTube link to a 21-track playlist of their music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOWt...Y7YJKkPSR4XToA

I’ve got this - the CD is called Holy Grail, which is overselling it slightly. It’s okay, depending on your tolerance for sub-Fairport folk rock stuff like Trees, Mellow Candle and others in that vein (also Space Oddity-era Bowie).

It’s nice, and the two singers (cousins, I seem to recall) sing very nicely but doesn’t sound like Floyd in any way nor (apart from Rick, Nick and Ron Geesin) do any of them feature in Floyd’s discography again.

I got ahold of it because of this thread and I love the album. So thanks thought I'd heard about every obscure band that had any relation to floyd but never heard this one. It's really great

I was impressed with the album from previewing it on YouTube, and I've since ordered a copy of the 'Holy Grail' CD myself. Should arrive any day now.

These two photos show two unknown women with Pink Floyd, who are probably Chimera's Francesca Garnett and Lisa Bankoff.

Does anyone know when, where, and for what purpose this photo was taken in the photo studio?

Going by the hairstyles and lack of beards, looks like early part of 1968.

I think one of the girls has written a book on their band, saw it on Amazon.

There are some excerpts from the band’s story on a Fleetwood Mac forum, since future Mac member Bob Weston was involved too.

At some point, Nick Mason seemed to have got close to having them signed to Atlantic until bad luck intervened.
