When you look at it in 2006, shortly after the neck was swapped on, you could see the years of fingerboard wear already. I'm fortunate to own said "cream #1" which now has a barely used neck which was swapped from the black strat shortly after the Live 8 performance.
You are the owner of this guitar? Mr E?

Yes, though I'm no Mr...Bob or Rob will do 😀 who is this?

Here she is today, not quite as pictured in the 80's as the neck was swapped with the Black Strat after the Live 8 performance.

Just a fan and guitar player like others. It's great to see things like this here, thank you for sharing.

So this and the other guitars aren't locked up collecting dust in a vault?

Not mine. I didn't buy them as an investment and frankly I haven't found a display case that I really liked. So I just keep them on stands or on my rack.

Damn! I want a single ply '57 style pickguard now. That is a clean look.

Interestingly, Polly posted a photo of David in a temporary studio yesterday, and he was playing one of the copied black strats. Can't teach an old dog new tricks it seens

I have one of those vintage black strat copies, its up on the wall more as a work of art than a playable instrument

Glad Alanko and MrFender pointed out that gear is just gear and it's all up to who uses it. Specifically the Black Strat. There were so many mods and switches over the years that if you did to your guitar now it would bring it down in value for everyone but the user. It's all in what you play! It also helps that David played most of the iconic guitar models throughout his career and he always sounded like himself no matter the guitar.

Irsay inherited the NFLs Indianapolis Colts when his father passed and has amassed a large collection of Rock n' Roll memorabilia including the Black Strat..

What an amazing thing to own! Beats my stratocasters by a country mile!

One question - did you have a significant other to not tell about purchasing another guitar(s)? 😄
