How to kill an interview in two seconds...

    Hi!

I just heard a great story i have to share: In 2006 a colleague of mine worked for REUTERS (News) and he and his former colleague got the order to interview Roger Waters in 2007/8 in Germany.

But the other guy had no idea what to ask because he had no clue about Pink Floyd or Roger Waters. So they gave him some album names and some samples of his solo work. Then he thought he might be bold and asked Roger:

"After what happened in NY in 2001 would you call your album again 'The Pros and Cons of Hijacking'?"

Roger looked at him in confusion for a second, stood up and left...and my friend crumbled to dust...😆

This was not to be meant as a joke, he just misread the album title…

Hahaha unfortunate but possibly the funniest and greatest mistake of an outcome from now on that’s what I’ll be calling pros and cons.

This is off the PF trail but in the 1970 I wrote music reviews for my college newspaper and a regional version of NYC's Village Voice. I could upload a bit of fan mail to give a flavor of what I wrote about...but in three years I pretty much saw everyone to make the mistake of playing at a Rhode Island college, Providence Civic Center and some Boston Garden gigs, including the night Keith Moon collapsed after two songs and fans lit seats on fire. Fun times. Anyhow: best interview was Ozzy and Iommi backstage after a Sab show in Providence. Yes, both were gents. Gents on a lot of coke, but gents. I was insane enough to bring a fellow student with me on a FIRST DATE. Worst interview: Lou Reed, closely followed by Zappa, although Zappa unloaded on a different kid from a different rag than mine. So I was more a witness to that. Happy to discuss them if there is interest but there is no Pink Floyd content....

          Classic

Can't blame Roger for this one - you would not believe how often journalists show up for interviews with musicians that clearly have not spent a second preparing for the interview let alone research their subject....

            We don't joke with Roger!
            Especially with continental humour

Oh, man, Roger really takes himself too seriously... No sense of humour on the guy. I'd have had a good laugh, if I were in his position, and do my own trolling.

You know what, I'm stealing the "Pros and Cons of Hijacking" title for one of my compositions. I wonder how that would be rendered into Ancient Greek

JawsTrade, I'd love to know about those experiences!

When I get some downtime from work, I will tell the tales. Because this is a Pink Floyd discussion group you won't have problems with tales of debauchery. (Observed not participated in although their hospitality extended to inclusion in....well, give me a day or two to write it up.

Ooof! That's rough. However, it gave him a great anecdote, so all is not lost!
